Touchstone Energy Home Program
The concept of the Touchstone Energy Home is simple: homeowners, builders and the electric cooperative work together to ensure that a new home is energy efficient, well insulated and is equipped with state-of-the-art electric heating, cooling and water heating equipment. If you’re building a new house this year, be sure to attend a meeting with our “Bob the Builder.” Bob Geswein is recognized as one of the area’s leading experts in building an energy efficient home. Seminars held in the REMC Community Room from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Staying In Touch Communications is a priority with the REMC and we know there’s not just one right way to communicate. That’s why you’ll find the REMC participating in many different types of communications. Whether you’re reading one of the REMC’s monthly publications, surfing the world wide web (www.theremc.com) or hearing an advertisement on a local news channel, the REMC is always finding ways to stay in touch with REMC members.
Safety Programs Safety is at the very top of the priority list for the REMC and rightfully so. Safety programs and demonstrations are available for civic organizations and youth groups of all sizes.

IU Southeast Scholarships The REMC offers ten scholarships to local high school seniors attending Indiana University Southeast the fall semester. Applications are available in the school guidance counselor’s office in January of every year or can be picked up at the REMC office. This “partnership in education” benefits the future of our communities. Students must reside in the home of a parent or legal guardian who is a member of the REMC.
Youth to Washington DC Every year the REMC and other Indiana Electric Cooperatives sponsor a Youth Tour to Washington DC. This all expense paid trip is for high school juniors during the summer before their senior year whose parents or guardians are members of the REMC. The trip gives students the opportunity to see our nation’s rich history and visit national monuments. Applications are available through the REMC each year.
Gatekeeper Program - The REMC participates in the nationwide assistance for the elderly called the Gatekeeper Program. As our meter readers and line crews travel through our service area, they keep a watchful eye out for our members and their property. If they notice something unusual such as mail not being collected, newspapers not being picked up or grass growing for a long period of time, they try to find out why and make sure that nothing is wrong. All of our employees have been trained in CPR and each REMC vehicle is equipped with a fire extinguisher, first-aid kit, and communication tools. If we're able to detect something that has gone astray, we can then report this to authorities in order to obtain the assistance that is needed. Office personnel also participate by keeping watch on unusual conditions that may surround an account.
Safe Place - Clark County REMC has been designated as a SAFE PLACE site for our youth to turn to in time of a crisis. They can depend on the REMC for help and assistance when they need it the most.
Community Services The REMC and its employees support and participate in various community services and activities. You’ll find REMC representation in United Way, the Crusade for Children, the American Cancer Association, the American Heart Association, Leadership Classes, March of Dimes, 4-H Support, little league sports, high school sports etc. While focusing on our member needs, the REMC also works for the development of our communities. After all, we live, work and play here too.
Economic Development The REMC is often active with the Southern Indiana Economic Development Commission and the Chamber of Commerce to spur local development and job creation.
